
Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov freed Sergey Kiriyenko from the post of head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency, RIA Novosti reports, citing a government press service. The message posted on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers said that Kiriyenko was dismissed from his post in connection with the transition to another job.
On the basis of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency, the State Corporation Rosatom was created, to which all enterprises of the defense and civilian units of the nuclear industry of Russia were transferred. Sergey Kiriyenko was appointed head of the State Corporation Rosatom.
The duties of the head of the federal agency will be fulfilled by Ivan Kamensky before his disbandment. The state corporation will begin work in the first half of 2008.
