
The Novgorod court sentenced to long time the prisoners of the accused of theft of awards of the famous Soviet combat pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union Yegor Chalov. According to RIA Novosti, this was announced on Monday by a representative of the city court.
The court found the defendant Denis Sokolov and Alexander Medvetsky guilty of performing the acts provided for in Article 158, part 2, paragraphs “A” and “B”, (theft committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy with illegal penetration into the dwelling).
"The court sentenced Sokolov to the aggregate of four months in prison, and Medvetsky - by four years four months, the sentences of punishment were appointed to serve in a colony of general regime," the agency’s interlocutor said.
In the summer of 2006, more than 20 state awards of the front -line soldier were stolen from the apartment of the descendants of Chalov in Veliky Novgorod. Among the missing were the Golden Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin, the Red Banner and the Red Star. During operational-search measures, two suspects in the crime were detained.
According to law enforcement agencies, the accused of the accused defended the Antiques buyer, who, in turn, resold their St. Petersburg collectors. During the investigation, the operatives managed to find several Chalov awards. The search for other missing Gosnagrad, including the hero’s stars, is currently ongoing.
