A group of German and Peruvian archaeologists discovered a temple in Peru, whose age is 5.5 thousand years, RIA Novosti reports with reference to AP. This is the oldest of all structures ever found in the country. According to one of the German archaeologists, the temple was created in 3000-3500. B.C.
The find indicates that civilization in Peru developed almost synchronously with civilizations in South Asia and the Middle East. The Peruvian temple can serve as evidence of the theory of the existence of ancient civilizations on the planet at about the same time - both in the Old World and in America.
The Peruvian archaeologist Walter Alva believes that the temple is probably built by highly developed civilization. At the moment, it has not yet been exactly established which people built the found building, it is only clear that it served as a place to send religious rituals.
The opening was made 330 kilometers from Lima, the capital and the largest city of Peru. Last year, archaeologists found the ruins of the temple in Peru, whose age is about 4 thousand years. This temple, named the Entardon, is part of the large architectural complex of Sipan, discovered in the Lambayke Valley in the 80s by the same Walter Alva. The ancient city, built about 2 thousand years ago, was the administrative and cultural center of the civilization of Mochik.
Until the middle of the 16th century, the territory of Peru was the center of the Inca empire - one of the most highly developed Indian tribes, which managed to develop its civilization in the conditions of a harsh alpine climate.
