The alleged mastermind of the murder of Evgeny Grigoriev was detained
The Investigative Committee at the Prosecutor's Office yesterday announced the arrest of four people suspected of murdering the prosecutor of the Saratov region, Evgeny Grigoriev , who was shot dead on February 13 at the entrance of his own house. According to the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Saratov Region, among the detainees are two alleged killers and two intermediaries who gave them the “order.” The names of those arrested have not yet been disclosed. It is only known that one of the killers is a former operative from Mordovia, and the intermediaries are former boxers, members of the regional boxing federation. Also yesterday, information appeared about the arrest of the alleged mastermind of the murder of the prosecutor, a certain large Saratov businessman.
As the Investigation Department (ID) of the Saratov Region Prosecutor's Office said, the alleged mastermind of the crime has been detained and will be arrested in the next day or two. At the same time, another alleged accomplice in the murder of the prosecutor has been put on the wanted list - 40-year-old resident of the Saratov region Evgeny Manbetov. The SU declined to comment further.
Meanwhile, the name of the alleged mastermind of the crime appeared in the media - supposedly it could be Alexey Maksimov. As it turned out, the businessman, who, among other things, is the president of the local boxing federation and a member of the regional pardon commission, was tried a year ago for “insulting a government official.”
As they said at the local police department, Mr. Maksimov caused a row in one of the restaurants, and then insulted the police officers who arrived on call. “It was a big story. The entrepreneur tried to make sure that the story went without initiating a criminal case. But the prosecutor's office did not allow this. When the court sentenced Mr. Maksimov to a fine, the prosecutor's office filed an appeal, demanding a more severe punishment. Then they tried to prosecute him for tax evasion, but the businessman paid off all the arrears, the Internal Affairs Directorate said. — The businessman boasted of his connections in the regional administration and other structures. However, he could hardly have ordered the murder of the prosecutor. He had no serious conflicts with Mr. Grigoriev. If he is detained, it is most likely due to suspicions that he could be another intermediary.”
At the Hammer and Sickle plant itself they assured yesterday that Mr. Maksimov is at large, but confirmed that he has not been at work for the second day. “The company’s affairs are deplorable. The plant is subject to constant attacks by raiders, including from Moscow companies. The management did not ask for help anywhere. Neither the authorities nor the authorities helped in any way,” the company noted.
At the same time, the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Saratov Region confirmed the detention of a major local businessman suspected of involvement in the murder of the prosecutor. But they did not name him, citing the fact that the man had not yet been arrested. “We got on his trail after the perpetrators, having learned who was actually killed, contacted intermediaries and began to discuss the amount of additional bonuses,” the operatives said. The SKP refused to comment on the news about the detention of Mr. Maksimov, neither confirming nor denying it.
The attempt on Mr. Grigoriev's life took place on the evening of February 13, when he was returning home from work. The driver of the official car, as always, stopped on the street. The prosecutor, having said goodbye to the driver, who immediately left, went to his entrance. A killer came out to meet him and shot him twice in the chest and head with a pistol at point-blank range. The investigation immediately stated that the murder of Mr. Grigoriev was connected with his official activities.
