Iran asks him to accept him in the Shanghai organization of cooperation

Iran officially turned to the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) with a request to accept it to the organization, the head of the Foreign Ministry of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iry Manechr Motaki told reporters here.

Now Iran, along with Mongolia, India and Pakistan, has the status of an observer in the SCO. Members of the organization are Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

In Dushanbe, Mottaki prepares with colleagues a meeting of the presidents of three Persian language countries - Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan. Today he was accepted by the Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon. After the audience, the Iranian Foreign Minister noted that Tehran’s intention to join the SCO was supported by Rahmon.

According to ITAR -TASS in the government of Tajikistan, one of the main issues discussed at consultations in Dushanbe of foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan is the creation of the economic union of three states.
