Myanmar military regime is ready to transfer power to the civil government in 2010

The military regime of Myanmar is ready to resign and transfer power in the country to the civil government in 2010. This was announced on Thursday by the chairman of the Military State Council of Peace and Development (GSMR), which performs the functions of the government, senior General Tan Swed.

According to the Supreme Myanmansky leader, the GSMR will transfer its functions to the legally elected government, which will be formed according to the results of the universal elections scheduled for 2010, in accordance with the authorities presented by the authorities to the country's transition to civil rule. The elections will be preceded by the holding of a popular referendum in May of the adoption of a new constitution of the country, which legally enshrines the principle of the formation of the government of the parliamentary majority.

The decision of the State Medical University to transfer the power of the civil administration, Tan Swed noted, is confirmed by the intentions of the country's leadership to clearly fulfill the obligations taken in accordance with the so -called “road map” adopted in 2003, consisting of seven points of the phased construction of democracy in the country, ITAR -TASS reports.

The civil administration was supposed to be formed following the results of the parliamentary elections that took place in the former Burma back in 1991, but then the military regime did not recognize their results. This led to the fact that Myanmar was in international isolation and was subjected to strict political and economic sanctions by the Western world.
