The rules "Formula-1" will adjust

From the next Grand Prix in Bahrain, FIA will change the rules of the third qualification segment in the championship. Amendments are prepared for the current regulations in order to avoid repetition of incidents similar to what happened in qualifications in Malaysia with two McLaren pilots.

Under the current rules, riders are forced to save fuel in the final round of qualification, since it is forbidden to add it to the race (unlike last season). For this reason, Lewis Hamilton and Haikki Kovalainen, having completed their last fast circles, sharply dropped the speed and involuntarily prevented the rivals, who then filed a complaint, and the stewards of the Grand Prix during Malaysia fined the McLaren pilots with the loss of five places on the starting field.

According to the representative of the FIA, from now on, for the third qualification segment, a restriction will be established for the duration of the circle, which should not exceed 120% of the usual result. At the same time, it is still unclear what this usual result will be equal and what sanctions will apply to violators of the new rule.

“Pilots returning to boxes after the completion of the fast circle will have to meet at the time,” the representative of the FIA ​​“Moscow Komsomolets” reports. “This will be approximately 120% of the time of the usual circle in order to avoid a significant decrease in speed to save fuel.”

It is possible that the new rule will enter into force already from the next Grand Prix, which will be held in Bahrain on April 4-6
