Women Against AIDS” is an exhibition by photo artist Serge Golovach organized to draw the attention of Russian society to the problems of HIV-infected people: Russia occupies one of the leading places in the world in terms of the growth rate of AIDS. The idea for the exhibition came about as a result of the trip - it was the Women Against AIDS tour, which took place last year in Alma-Ata, Chisinau, Yerevan and Moscow. The group included 5 HIV-positive girls who do not hide their status. We traveled to these four capitals to find out on the spot how the situation with discrimination against HIV-positive women is in the regions. And it turned out, for example, that in Yerevan, in general, not a single woman can reveal her status, because her environment will ostracize her. And there was a project that brought together women with different immune status. Seven girls were allowed to disclose their HIV-positive status. This is an epidemic that can affect anyone. Or each. And if HIV has not yet come to every home, then it can come. The presence of stars, and healthy ones, is very important for people who for some reason think that AIDS patients are from some other life. The scale of the epidemic is huge: officially in Russia there are 400 thousand HIV-positive, and according to unofficial data - a million. They need our help, and famous people who took part in the project say: we are ready to help. Help you too! From my point of view, they accomplished a small civic feat.

I gave the face of the campaign that fights AIDS. I think this is a noble goal. There are two opinions: the first is that AIDS does not exist at all, it is a problem promoted by companies that manufacture expensive medical products. The second is a really specific virus that is life-threatening. But it can be avoided. Those who carry this virus are not dangerous to other people, so it is impossible to isolate, destroy and oppress them!

Serge Golovach was born in 1970 in Birobidzhan. In 1986 he graduated from art school, and in 2001 - DVAGS in Khabarovsk. Since 2001 lives in Moscow. Serge Golovach works in the field of performance, panoramic photography, screen printing and animation. Golovach's works are kept in the collections of the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), the Far Eastern Art Museum (Khabarovsk), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the National Center for Contemporary Art (Moscow), the Moscow House of Photography Museum, the Center for Contemporary Art (Vitebsk), as well as in private domestic and foreign collections. Serge Golovach is a member of the Professional Union of Artists, International Federation of Journalists, International Association Society of Designers, Union of Photographers of Russia. Winner of Nikon Photo Contest International (2000-2001).
