The first owner of the "Golden Leo" of the 65th Venice Film Festival was declared

The Directorate of the 65th Venice Film Festival announced the name of the owner of the statuetus "Golden Leo of St. Mark" for an outstanding contribution to cinema. This year he will be a famous Italian director, screenwriter, producer and operator Ermanno Olmi, ITAR-TASS reports.

Journalists note that Maestro Olmi was not accidentally born under the sign of Leo (July 24, 1931 in the city of Bergamo) - in his "collection" two Venetian awards: "Silver Leo" for the film "Long live Signora!" (1987) and the "Golden Leo" for the picture "The Legend of the Holy Drunk" (1988).

He has been professionally engaged in cinema for more than half a century and became the author of 64 films of different genres - documentary and game: the first ("dam on the ice") was shot in 1953, and work on the latter ("one hundred nails") ended in 2007.

Among its best tapes, except already mentioned, critics are called "tree for shoes" (1978), "legend of revenge" (2003), "train ticket" (2005). Hermanno Olmi is considered a direct heir to the art of neorealism in modern cinema Italy.

It should be noted that on August 27, the 65th film festival in Venice will open up to the world premiere of the new “Black Comedy” “burn after reading the Brothers Ethan and Joel Cohen, whose film“ Oskar is not a place ”as the best film as the best film of 2007.
