The Taganrog Automobile Plant is negotiating with Hyundai on the assembly of GETZ at a Russian enterprise, Vedomosti reports. So far, negotiations are not close to the final, neither the terms nor the volume of production are called.
On Tagaz, the old Hyundai models are already being removed from production in Korea are now collecting on the license: previous generations Accent, Sonata, Santa Fe and Elantra. The Korean concern is going to replace the current Getz with a new model at the end of 2008. Apparently, negotiations are ongoing just about assembling the model removed from production.
The demand for Getz will be stable at least 2-3 years, experts say. But the buyer will be treated with caution, so the plant will probably have to reduce prices. The three -door version of Getz, now imported from Korea, costs from 292,900 rubles ($ 12,300) to 444,900 rubles ($ 18,700). With local assembly, it can be reduced by 15%.
