At the first stage of the comprehensive reconstruction of the Avtovo station, which will be completed in 2008, four receiving and departure tracks will be extended, the receiving and departure park and the Narvskaya - Avtovo and Predportovaya - Avtovo stages will be electrified, which will allow carry out transportation in electric trains.

At the second stage, the remaining tracks of the Avtovo station will be lengthened, and in the future it is planned to build the second main track of the Predportovaya - Avtovo section on the western side of the existing track, as well as to create an additional railway overpass across Leninsky Prospekt.

Work to reconstruct the station is being carried out in order to ensure the increasing volumes of rail traffic to the Big Port of St. Petersburg.
