Russian sticking champions will be awarded with diamonds

The winners of the Russian Mas-Srestling Championship, which will be held on Wednesday in St. Petersburg, will receive large Yakut diamonds as prizes, a representative of the permanent representative office of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the city on the Neva told RIA Novosti .

Mas -srestling is a tug of sticks, a national Yakut sport. Its essence is that two athletes, sitting against each other and resting their feet on a special emphasis, must tear a stick out of the opponent’s hands or pull him to his side. The key to the victory in the mas -srestling is to keep the balance of the opponent himself and to remove the opponent from the balance.

“Mas -srestling has a great future. This is simple, affordable, while a very spectacular and emotional sport. Today it is becoming more and more popular in our country, fans of Mas -Srestling also appeared in other countries of the world,” the agency’s interlocutor noted.

More than 115 athletes from different regions of the country take part in the competition. Men and women compete separately. The organizers had to remake the platform on which the competitions would be held directly, since among the participants there are a lot of those whose weight exceeds 100 kilograms.
