Ozzy Osbourne has won a legal battle against a newspaper that claimed his health problems meant the Brit Awards were in jeopardy, Sky News reports .

The article, entitled Ozzy's Freak Show, was published by the British tabloid Daily Star last February, shortly after the Black Sabbath singer co-hosted the Brit Awards with his wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly.

The article claimed that shortly before the start of the awards ceremony, Osbourne fell twice and the organizers had to urgently consider the possibility of his hospitalization.

In addition, the Daily Star wrote that Osborne was forced to move on an electric gurney. He also allegedly insisted that the event organizers provide him with a seat that he could use if he got tired during the ceremony.

Osborne's libel claim against publishing company Express Newspapers was heard in the High Court of England and Wales in London.

As a result of the trial, the Daily Star was forced to admit that the information it published about Osbourne was “completely false”, and lawyer Kate Wilson apologized to the musician on behalf of the newspaper.

The undisclosed amount of compensation that Express Newspapers is required to pay will be donated to the Sharon Osbourne-led charity Colon Cancer Program. In addition, Express Newspapers is required to cover the musician's legal costs.
