The new investigative insulator "Crosses" under construction near St. Petersburg will become the most modern institution of this type in Russia. According to RIA Novosti, this was announced by the head of the capital construction department of the Federal Penitentiary Service Nikolai Lonchakov.

The construction of a pre -trial detention center began last year in the area of ​​the city of Kolpino. It is planned that the institution will begin to function by 2013. "There will be eight floors in the building, the ninth - walking yards. There are no such pre -trial detention centers in Russia now - the highest building will be, with elevators. Now a maximum of five floors," Lonshchakov said.

In addition, the “crosses” will be the first isolator in Russia, where each under investigation will account for seven square meters of area - in accordance with European norms, and not four, as it is now. “There will be no multi -seat cameras - there are few single, but the bulk - two and four -seater. There will be no such cameras as in many insulators, where 10-15 people are located,” said the representative of the FSIN.

According to him, the new building, like the old "crosses", is designed for 4 thousand seats, although the complex itself will be much larger. "The development territory there is 35 hectares - these are administrative buildings with a dining room and a tire, a gym, a pre -investigation department, a medical part, two regime buildings of two thousand seats, a large household and storage zone, hostels for service and so on. The buildings will be interconnected by transition galleries," the agency’s interlocutor said.
