13 suspected members of the Russian Mafia were left in Spain

The investigator of the National Judicial Chamber of Spain Balthasar Garson left in custody during the investigation of 13 out of 20 detained Russians and Spaniards suspected of laundering money in the country. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the National Radio of Spain.

The investigation has evidence of these persons in criminal activity.

According to NRI, among the arrested, Gennady Petrov appears, who is considered the leader of the criminal group.

It is noted that two suspects were released on bail, and the remaining five - without collateral, under the promise not to leave a permanent place of residence and regularly appear in the police commissariat for control.

The Russians and several Spaniards were detained on June 13 as a result of an operation under the code name "Troika", in Madrid, in the Balearis Islands, in the provinces of Alikant and Malag on suspicion of laundering of capital received from criminal activity in Russia.

In addition to Petrov, in the lists of the detainees, Alexander Malyshev and Vitaliy Zhigilov appear, whom the Spanish media call the "authorities" of the Tambov and Malyshevskaya groups of St. Petersburg. The term of preliminary imprisonment in Spain may not exceed two years, but in special cases it is extended to 4 years.

On Saturday, it was reported that about 12 million euros were frozen on the detainees' accounts.
