Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has issued directives to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to hold talks on gas issues to be held on Saturday between Tymoshenko and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
“All participants should understand the price of gas and what formula it is used to calculate. That this was not a political price, but an economic one. The situation is similar with the transit of Russian gas,” Yushchenko told reporters in Kyiv.
The President of Ukraine stressed that the relevant conditions must be fixed by September 15. In addition, Yushchenko believes that Ukraine should be involved as a third party in negotiations with Central Asian partners regarding gas supplies.
Today, the head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, Oleg Dubina, left on a working trip to Moscow for consultations with the management of OAO Gazprom.
