The trend of entertaining while entertaining, which emerged a couple of seasons ago, was continued this year. For the remakes of “Star Factory 7”, “Ice Age”, “Minute of Fame 2”, “Circus 2”, “Big Race”, “Two Stars 2”, “King of the Ring 2”, “Dancing on Ice. Velvet Season”, “Dancing with the Stars 2”, several more entertainment attractions were added - “You are a superstar”, “STS lights up a star”, “50 blondes”. A separate line should be mentioned for self-playing spectacles - the Eurovision contest and hockey and football championships.

The serial section of the broadcast, as in the last season, was not rich in luck. The co-production “War and Peace” is artistically unconvincing. A very controversial film adaptation of Crime and Punishment. The series “Saboteur” can be considered a success. And the highlight of the season was “Liquidation” by Sergei Ursulyak. That, in fact, is all that the channels could boast of.

Television documentary, as before, was supplemented with research regarding the private life of the star party. She did not disdain pulling out skeletons from the closets of deceased celebrities. The light in the window was the documentary projects “Historical Chronicles” by Nikolai Svanidze and “One-Storey America” by Vladimir Pozner and Ivan Urgant.

In the struggle for reputational ratings, Channel One ventured into “Closed Screening” - a kind of fig leaf.

There were also a couple of decent fig leaves. These are the parody programs “Big Difference” and “ProjectorParisHilton”.

“Nothing Personal” and “One Hundred Questions for an Adult” look fresh on TV Center.

Discussion talk shows such as “Judge for yourself”, “To the barrier!” and “National Interest” either transform into a chaotic exchange of insults, leaving behind a bunch of garbage thoughts and words, or become something like a one-goal game, and without a goalkeeper.

An even more obvious expression of this trend was the introduction of the genre of historical propaganda into the airwaves. First we saw “The Great Game” (a project by Mikhail Leontyev), then “The Fall of an Empire. Byzantine lesson" (project of Father Tikhon).

The “Last 24 Hours of Life...” format, which was put on the conveyor belt, has ossified and now resembles a funeral service bureau. Malakhov’s show “Let Them Talk” often competes with it. Now it’s like two funeral parlors - “You’re welcome” and “Nymph”, both of them are in a swing there.

An alternative to the main channels remains “Culture” with its discussion programs “Meanwhile”, “Apocrypha”, with long-running projects “Life Line”, “Theater Chronicle”, “Episodes”. There were two wonderful educational series - “Through Action” and “Against the Background of Pushkin... 1937.”

Against the backdrop of 2008, the “country duty officer” Mikhail Zhvanetsky appeared once a month. His show is a fig leaf on the Rossiya TV channel.

I would call Zhvanetsky the TV personality of the year.
