The general director and main owner of Mechel, Igor Zyuzin, who recently could not attend the meeting of Vladimir Putin due to hospitalization and was criticized by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation for the sales policy of the Mining and Metallurgical Company, on Wednesday arrived in the Kemerovo city of Mezhdurechensk, where an accident occurred at one of the Mechela mines. Rostekhnadzor concluded that the cause of the fire is in a low level of production control.
The mining rescuers have been trying to extinguish the fire for the second day.
"In the work to eliminate the consequences of the accident, two departments of a militarized mining unit are involved, " the representative of the South Kuzbass company, which owns the mine, told RIA Novosti .
According to him, the fire burns at a depth of about 300 meters, its exact area is unknown. They try to extinguish the fire with the help of a vacuum pumping station, which supplies with an emergency site nitrogen inert foam.
The company representative noted that the city rescuers are now considering the question of blocking the place of fire underground with special jumper. This should prevent the spread of fire, experts say.
The main reason for the accidents at the Lenin Mine, belonging to the Mechel mining and metallurgical company in Kuzbass, is a low level of production control, the press service of the Siberian Directorate of Rostekhnadzor reports on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, journalists who were waiting for Zyuzin's arrival in the city failed to meet him. "Zyuzin visited the mine, met with the leadership of the mine and got acquainted with the situation to eliminate the consequences of the accident and medical care to the victims," said the representative of the South Kuzbass company, which is part of the Mechel group.
According to him, no press conference of the Head of Mechel is planned.
Recall that the accident at the Lenin mine in Mezhdurechensk occurred on Tuesday as a result of a methane outbreak of about 300 meters, 17 people were injured, four of them were taken to intensive care in serious condition. At the time of the accident, there were more than 400 miners in the mine, all of them were brought to the surface.
Before departure in Mezhdurechensk, the head of the "Mechel" underwent examination in the clinic of the emergency cardiovascular and general surgery of the Sethenov Moscow Medical Academy.
Zyuzin entered the hospital on July 23, despite the fact that he was invited to a meeting of Putin, which on July 24 criticized the Mechel’s sales policy and said that the company in the first quarter of 2008 sold its raw materials abroad at prices twice as lower than internal.
Zyuzin controls about 70% of Mechel.
The Lenin Mine in Mezhdurechensk belongs to OJSC South Kuzbass. This is not the first accident in the mine recently. On May 30, five miners were killed there due to the collapse of the roofing roof.
