On Sunday, August 17, the first Iranian artificial satellite of the Earth was brought to orbit. This was reported by the official information agency of Irna with reference to the Communny of the United Staff of the IRI Armed Forces.
"The launch of the Safir launch vehicle (" envoy ") with the first Iranian companion of Omid (" Nadezhda ") was successful," the document says. “This test has reached its goal,” it emphasizes.
The statement of the United Staff indicates that the launch was timed to the religious holiday celebrated today-the birthday of the 12th “hidden” Imam Mehdi, especially revered by Muslims-shiites.
The launch in the presence was carried out by order of the President of the Islamic Republic of Mahmud Ahmadi Nezhad. This was announced to local journalists by the official representative of the government Iri Golyam Hossein Elham. "The president of the country was present at the launching pad during the launch of the Omid telecommunication satellite," the official said. "The start was carried out by order of the head of the IRI executive branch."
At the same time, the Iri state television has spread personnel, which captured the start of a rocket in the dark. On the rocket, the inscription is clearly visible: "Safir - Omid" ("Messenger - Hope").
In turn, the Fars news agency emphasized in a urgent message about this event that "Iranian scientists independently developed the Omid satellite in conditions when developed countries did not provide Iran with any, even the most insignificant details necessary to create such objects."
Earlier this week, Mahmud Ahmadi Nezhad promised that the conclusion to the near -Earth orbit of the Omid satellite will take place in the coming days.
The first achievements of Tehran in the field of space development were announced on February 4, when the Kaveshgyar-1 rocket ("Researcher-1") was tested, as approved then, intended to withdraw the first Iranian satellite into the orbit. The latter was developed by local specialists for 10 years and is able to fly on low near -Earth orbits.
Considering that Iri intensively conducts missile developments not only in the civilian, but also in the military sphere, the world community ambiguously responded to these successes of Tehran. Thus, the Pentagon expressed the opinion that they testify to the reality of the threat of Iri and are an extra argument in favor of the deployment of the PRO in Europe. Iran hastened to reject any fears that his space research could pose a threat to security.
