The leadership of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) was presented to the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko, who became the champion in the weight category up to 57 kilograms, the Val Barker prize as the most technical game boxer.

Lomachenko won all his rivals at the Olympics with a total score of 58:13, and in the first match he took a convincing revenge from the Russian Albert Selimov for defeat in the final of the 2007 World Cup. And in the final, he “defeated” the Frenchman Hedafi Jelhir in less than two minutes - the referee stopped the duel after three knockdowns.

The boxing tournament set several records. The main, perhaps, is one of the legislators of the mod in this sport, the Cuba team for the first time since 1968 was left without gold medals. The US team showed the worst performance in the history of games - one "bronze", in 1948 the Americans were content with the only "silver". Immediately three national teams for the first time won the “gold” - China (two), Mongolia, the Dominican Republic, and three more - Olympic awards - Armenia, India, Mauritius.

In the team standings of the boxing tournament, the first place was taken by the Chinese team - two gold, silver and bronze medal. Just one award (silver) lost to the "owners" of the Russian team, in third place Italians (1-1-1), ITAR-TASS reports.
