The Moscow Arbitration Court granted the claim of the All -Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) to the New Times and journalist Natalia Moral. After the third VTsIOM, he appealed to the arbitration court with a claim for the protection of a business reputation, which sociologists estimated in the total amount of 10 million rubles.

What did the VTsIOM refute?

Firstly, that, as was written in the article “VTsIOM. Part 2 ”,“ Many orders for, say, marketing research are received with the submission of the Kremlin patrons, and the amount of orders is not comparable with a real volume / ... / and customers are satisfied because they perceive this order rather as a Kremlin racketeering. ”

Secondly, that when conducting polls, sociologists on the instructions of various parties use the so-called forming questions, that is, questions that lead to strictly defined answers.

As for these issues contrary to the canons of sociology, then the court refused to satisfy the claims of the VTsome. The court decided: "The applicant’s argument that the surveys conducted by VTsIOM did not have a forming character was unjustified." “The release of VTsIOM No. 771 dated 09/18/2007, to which there is a link in the statement of claim, indicates the opposite,” the resolution of the Moscow Arbitration Court says.

However, the court considered the statement about the special commercial relations of the VTII with the Kremlin. As a result, the VTsIOM business reputation was estimated by a court of 10 thousand rubles instead of the requested 10 million. And the court ordered Natalia Morar to pay 2 million - 100 rubles instead of the required by the VTsIome. What she will certainly do and is even ready to do it personally - if, of course, to protect the honor of the Kremlin and VTsome, she will be let into Russia.
