Ruslan Yamadayev was in a hurry to kill. 5 o’clock in the evening, the center of Moscow, literally opposite the windows of the Prime Minister. What the killers were afraid of - the New Times found out
Ruslan Yamadayev, a former deputy of the State Duma from the United Russia party and the former deputy military commandant of Chechnya during the second war (2001-2002), was shot at house No. 10 on the Smolenskaya embankment. Through the road - the new building of the Moscow City Hall, to the left is the building of the Russian government. On the embankment itself is the British Embassy. For some reason, Yamadaev always opened a very cautious driver of the armored Mercedes of the S-600 representative Mercedes. The car belongs to his younger brother Sulim, who, until the very last moment, headed the Vostok battalion, which is part of the Main Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. By car - special numbers of the Federal Security Service with branded three letters "A". To the right of Yamadayev in the passenger chair was a colonel general of the ground forces and the former military commandant of Chechnya (in his subordination, Ruslan Yamadaev served) Sergey Kizyun. The general survived, although 7 bullets were released into him, and he is under a special security in the Botkin Hospital of Moscow.
Why and why Ruslan Yamadaev opened the side window? Why wasn't he alert when he saw a man approaching the car in a gauze band?
The killer released 16 bullets into the car, after which he safely disappeared from the scene of the crime. Yes, so disappeared that two days after the murder, the investigators failed to find a car (allegedly black Audi), or the weapons from which they shot. That is, the killer was absolutely sure that he could leave with impunity, and did not even throw a pistol-machine gun “Kedr”, from which he killed, which, as a rule, was made by professional killers. Moreover: Kutuzovsky Prospekt, from which Yamadaev turned onto the Smolenskaya embankment, is a government and specially protected track, along which the entire leadership of the country and most of its most wealthy citizens drive daily. According to the traffic police, one of the government motorcies was supposed to go along the avenue shortly after the murder. However, neither the murderer’s car nor the killer himself came into view of any of the numerous tracking cameras installed on the main government highway, the sources of The New Times, close to the investigation.
Where and where?
So, the offender was in a hurry - otherwise, he would hardly risk it: in the light of the day, in the place where traffic cops and people in civilian clothes were every ten meters. So, it was impossible to allow some meeting that Yamadaev and Kizyun were in a hurry that day.
Where did they go from? And where?
Where? A lot of fighters of the Vostok battalion lives in the area of Kutuzovsky Prospekt: according to The New Times, they bought apartments in the famous "Stalinist" houses on both sides of the avenue-the leaders of the CPSU Central Committee once lived here.
In one of these apartments, they say, all recently, under the enhanced guard, Sulim Yamadaev. The same Sulim, who was removed from the command of the Vostok battalion in September (and even earlier he was put on the wanted list), even though the battalion fighters, along with the commander, distinguished themselves during recent hostilities in South Ossetia. The interlocutors of The New Times in Chechnya, close to the Yamadayev family, say that recently, Sulim very rarely left home, and if he still traveled, he was always accompanied by enhanced guard.
Surprisingly, the murdered-Ruslan Yamadaev-on the contrary, went without guard and without a driver, in any case, on the day of the murder, the ex-deputy of the State Duma himself was at the wheel of a Mercedes.
But another question may be much more important: where did Yamadaev go?
Meeting with the unknown
A day before his death, Ruslan Yamadaev gave an interview to the newspaper Kommersant. “They put pressure on us,” he answered the question of how their family is now. “But nothing, we will figure it out.” When asked about the future of his brother Sulim Yamadayev, the former deputy replied: “He is fine, soon everything will be fine at all. Until he works, but soon will be. It's too early to talk about it. Now it is being discussed. It is discussed with the authorities. You will hear soon! "
Immediately after the execution on the Smolenskaya embankment, another brother of the deceased (once there were six brothers, today there were four survived), Isa Yamadaev, said that Ruslan was supposed to meet with one of Medvedev’s deputy deputies. Dmitry Medvedev, as you know, does not have deputies. In an interview with The New Times, Isa Yamadaev emphasized that he does not know the name of the person with whom the deceased brother was appointed. But he knows for sure that this "unknown" is a senior employee of the presidential administration. At this meeting, according to Isa, Ruslan Yamadaev was to discuss the future of his brother and Vostok battalion. True, whether the meeting has already taken place or Ruslan Yamadaev only headed for her, his brother does not know. “We will learn everything to the end,” Isa Yamadaev promised. “We will find out every detail.”
Closed to the family of the Yamadayev interlocutors The New Times in Chechnya do not exclude that Ruslan Yamadaev could also discuss his possible appointment. 1 “Ruslan said that he wants to return to big politics and is taking some steps for this,” said The New Times. “He had contacts in the Kremlin, and he tried to protect the“ East ”and his position in Chechnya.” At the same time, the interlocutor of The New Times did not rule out that Yamadaev waged negotiations with the first deputy head of the presidential administration Vladislav Surkov, who is called the curator of this region in the Kremlin. Moreover, the same source says that Ruslan, most likely, went to meet with Vladislav Surkov. The New Times tried to verify this information in the presidential administration - unsuccessfully.
So, where did the murdered go? His car turned from Kutuzovsky Prospekt to the right and stood under the arrow-also to the right, waiting for a green signal: then it overtook him and overtook the killer. If this did not happen, then this road would lead Ruslan Yamadayev to the building of the government. Of course, it is possible that Yamadayev planned meetings in popular restaurants opposite the Center for International Trade, a little more than a kilometer from a fatal turn for Yamadayev. But time: 5 o’clock in the afternoon - too late for lunch and too early for a business dinner. But just the time when it is convenient to meet with officials in their office: the flight of the working day, the meetings have already died out, the joy of evening life is still far away.
Revenge?
The murder of Yamadaev is most likely putting the cross in his brother's career future. Sulim Yamadayev never had good ties in Moscow political circles. At the same time, Sulim Yamadaev already managed to accuse the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov 2 of organizing the murder and promised to avenge him immediately after the end of Ramadan's sacred for the Muslims. Ramadan ends this year on September 29. As the chairman of the Islamic Committee of Russia Heydar Dzhemal explained by The New Times, during Ramadan, Muslims should avoid wars, revenge and all kinds of violence: therefore, either the organizer committed sin before Islam, or he is not a faithful Muslim and his trace is not in Chechnya. The history of the conflict
The media seriously started talking about the conflict between Kadyrov and the Yamadayev after Ruslan Yamadaev did not fall on the lists of United Russia and lost his place in the State Duma.
In the public field, the conflict resulted in April 2008. A formal occasion was a clash of motorcade of the President of Chechnya and the commander of the Vostok battalion on the road. The cars could not part, and the case almost turned around.
After that, Ramzan Kadyrov accused the Yamadayev of many crimes, including abductions and murder of civilians. Sulim and Badruddin Yamadaevs were put on the wanted list, and the Chechen leader began surgery to establish control over the Vostok battalion.
The story received an unexpected continuation after the fighters of the “East” took part in the hostilities in South Ossetia and Georgia, showing that their unit is perhaps the most combat -ready and disciplined in the Russian army.
After the war, the Yamadaev brothers stopped looking for, but at the same time they were removed from the command of the East. Officially Sulim Yamadaev was fired from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
