The premiere of Israel Olmert was interrogated for the eighth time: he refuses to testify

Police investigators interrogated the head of the Israeli Government Ehud Olmert Ehud Olmert in the corruption case for the eighth time. The investigation in this case is coming to an end, but the police decided to receive additional testimonies from Olmert before the case will be transferred to court.

The interrogation began at 10:00 local time in the Jerusalem Chancellery of the Prime Minister and lasted about 2 hours. Olmert, who, in the framework of this case, is charged with a waste of state funds for family trips abroad, refused to answer police questions, NEWSRU Israel notes.

In addition, investigators intended to interrogate the head of government in the case of the acquisition of a house in Jerusalem, which, as the police suspect, was sold to Olmert below the market price - in exchange for permission to build in this prestigious metropolitan district.

It is worth noting that to date, the police recommended that the prosecutor’s office send the head of government on the court for Maurice of Talansk and Rishonurs, within the framework of which Olmert is incriminated, fraud for aggravating circumstances and abuse of official position. The current case against Olmert was opened on May 2. According to investigators, Olmert took funds from the American businessman Mauris Talanska when he was the mayor of Jerusalem, and then the Minister of the Government of Ariel Sharon. The accusation believes that the suspect received up to 150 thousand dollars in cash for 15 years, and even larger amounts of Talanskoye donated for election targets through bank checks. The businessman had previously given appropriate evidence at a public hearing in the Jerusalem court.

The Prosecutor General Mazhm Mazuz must decide whether to charge the disgraced prime minister or not. According to some reports, this decision will be made in the coming weeks.
