The US military command in Iraq announced the liquidation of one of the "emirs" of the Caida al-Jihad group. Maher Ahmed Mahmud Az-Zubeidi, also known under the names of Abu Assad and Abu Rami, was shot dead on Friday in Baghdad during the special operation of American troops.

According to the representative of the US command, the location of Abu Rami was established on the basis of intelligence. The house in the Baghdad district of El-Azamia, in which the terrorist was hiding, was blocked, and he was offered to surrender. Abu Rami opened fire and was killed in a shootout. Together with him, a woman who was in the house died.

In Iraq, it is believed that behind the explosions of Shiite mosques in Baghdad last Thursday there is a group of Abu Rami. In the attacks and attacks organized by him in 2006-2007, more than 200 people died. He was also engaged in abductions and killings of people.
