
The head of the Institute of Religion and Law was Roman Lunkin. Roman Nikolayevich Lunkin is a candidate of philosophical sciences, senior researcher at the Institute of European RAS, as well as an employee of the Center for the Study of Religious and Society Problems. He is the author of numerous scientific works on the sociology of religion and socio-political issues in Russian and foreign languages, hundreds of journalistic articles on religious, social and human rights subjects.
According to Roman Linkin, the Institute of Religion and Law, which previously existed as a scientific center at the Slavic legal center, will expand the sphere of its activity. The institute will monitor the situation and conduct research in the field of state-church relations; Conduct conferences and seminars on the implementation of the right to freedom of conscience, the problems of state-confessional relations in Russia and abroad, religious studies and sociology of religion. In addition, the institute will release books, brochures and reference literature on the relevant topic. One of the main projects of the Institute of Religion and Law, as Roman Linkin noted, will be the further advance of the information and analytical journal Religion and Law, the publication of which will oversee the institute.
Recall that the Institute of Religion and Law was founded by the Slavic legal center in April 1994 as a non-state research organization. Specialists of the institute took part in the development of draft federal laws on freedom of conscience, alternative civil service, and other bills.
