Experts of the International Labor Organization (ILO) voiced on October 21 a disappointing forecast of the consequences of the global financial crisis. In their opinion, the army of unemployed in the world will increase by 20 million and at the same time the number of "workers' poor people" will grow - those who receive less than 1 dollar per day for their work are written "new news." Russia has already been covered by a wave of reduction in jobs and cutting salaries, Russian experts state.
According to the head of the Huan Somavia, the financial crisis will hit the most strongly on the automobile, tourist, construction and financial sectors. “This is not only a crisis on Wall Street, this is a crisis on all streets,” he warned on Tuesday. According to the estimates of international experts, by the end of next year, 210 million unemployed will be consisted with among people of working age. And the number of those whose daily salary is $ 2 will increase by 100 million people.

Only Merrill Lynch fired more than 5,000 employees over the past 18 months, reducing the staff to about 60 thousand. The dismissal will continue after the company's absorption by Bank of America. The Swedish Auto -Concert Volvo Cars announced the dismissal of 3300 workers, the Spanish Auto Concert SEA 1200 employees, writes Vedomosti .
Forecasts regarding the situation in Russia also leave much to be desired. Mass dismissals have already begun throughout the country: jobs are reduced in metallurgy, mechanical engineering and the construction sector. Calculations are also received by office and trading employees, experts of the Institute of Globalization and Social movements (IGSO) in their latest study also state. The reason is the problems of companies that have arisen due to the crisis.
This week, a number of large enterprises of the financial sector reported plans to "optimize the structure of personnel." Thus, the opening financial corporation, the investment and financial company Metropol and the investment-banking company Renaissance Group announced the revision of the number of employees and did not exclude 10 percent reduction.
About 3,000 employees plans to send MMK on vacation, KamAZ does not exclude 10%contractions, Maxwell Capital reduced 50%personnel, Entente Pioglobal - by 70%, Otkritie Criminal Code - by 15%. Possible reductions are prepared for Uralsib, Broker Creditsevis, Veles Capital, Keith Finance, Three Dialogue, Home Credit and Finance Bank, and Moscow Bank.
These and other companies have to save on everything: to reduce the costs of employees for mobile communications, business trips and representative costs, and the Finnish company completely switched to 100 percent electronic document management in order to save on paper. There is almost a massive refusal to celebrate traditional corporate parties, items of advertising and PR costs are being reviewed. However, according to experts, this is only the beginning of a protracted crisis in the labor market. Nevertheless, the publication notes, it is not worth expecting a strong increase in unemployment in Russia. Dismissed will be able to find a new place of work.
In the medium term, the unemployment rate will mainly depend on seasonal factors, says Andrei Korovkin, head of the Laboratory of Labor Resources Laboratory for Labor Resources, Andrei Korovkin: in the IV quarter of 2008, the number of unemployed will decrease slightly, and in the first quarter of 2009 it will grow, in particular, due to a decrease in employment in agriculture. According to his estimates, from November 2008 to March 2009, the number of unemployed will grow by 270-340 thousand people.
In the United States and Europe, companies dismiss personnel in proportion to reduction of production and equally quickly create new jobs, said Vladimir Gimpelson, director of the Center for Labor Research at the State Labor Studies. In Russia, local authorities will not allow many companies to reduce personnel, he says: therefore, the crisis in Russia "will be smeared with a thin layer for all citizens."
