Putin promised 20 "effective" constituent entities of the Russian Federation "Bonus" of 2 billion rubles before the end of the year

The Government of the Russian Federation will link the volume of financial assistance allocated to the regions with indicators of the effectiveness of the regional authorities, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers said on Thursday.

"The federal government has the right to link the volume of financial assistance allocated to the territories with indicators of the effectiveness of the regional authorities, and we must and will enjoy this right," the prime minister said.

According to Putin, the calculations show that in 2007 about 440 billion rubles of regional budget funds were ineffectively spent - almost 10% of the total amount of expenses, RIA Novosti reports.

Already this year, 20 entities of the Federation, which have achieved high results, will receive a total of 2 billion rubles from the federal budget. “As an incentive bonus,” the prime minister noted.

According to Putin, indicators most important for citizens are selected to evaluate "efficiency": the growth of the population, the state of the education system, healthcare, housing and communal services, the level of investment attractiveness of the territory.

The prime minister emphasized that the regions themselves will determine the priority tasks, the solution of which will go these additional resources.
