IAAF requires disqualification of seven Russian athletes for four years

The sports arbitration court in Lausanne (CAS) confirmed that he received an appeal from the International Association of athletics federations (IAAF) to the decision of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) on two years of 2007 seven Russian athletes accused of substitution of doping industry.

According to the requirements of the IAAF, the disqualification period should be four years and begin from the moment the CAS decision is made - taking into account the past period of the removal, the whole sport agency reports.

IAAF submitted to CAS an appeal by the decision of the WFLA of October 20, 2008 in the case of the seven athletes - Yulia Fomenko, Daria Pischalnikova, Elena Soboleva, Svetlana Cherkasova, Gulfia Hanafeeva, Tatyana Tomasheva and Olga Egorova.

The Presidium of WFLA disqualified each of the athletes for two years from April-May 2007 (the date of the sampling of the sampling from a single athlete) for violation of anti-doping rules (using the prohibited method). IAAF believes that more serious sanctions are relied on for committed violation, and requires that the athletes be disqualified for four years from the date of decision in CAS - taking into account the past period of removal.

"The tribunal will decide in accordance with the Sports Arbitration Code. As a rule, CAS makes its verdict within four months from the date of appeal," the CAS press service said.
