At a meeting held on December 5 with State Duma deputies from United Russia, representatives of Russian Internet business asked the authorities to support this area, first of all, to reduce taxes. According to the leaders of the largest RuNet projects, the peak of the crisis for the Internet industry is expected in March next year and in order to survive this crisis, the industry needs tax holidays, otherwise many projects, including those that are starting, will be curtailed. This request is not surprising, since recently many business communities have been talking about the need to reduce the tax burden, but in this case it rather indicates the desire of Internet business to appear as serious in the eyes of the authorities as other areas. Let us recall that earlier the government of the country decided to allocate about 4 trillion rubles to banks, 260 billion rubles. allocated to the Agency for Housing Mortgage Lending, the property deduction for the purchase of housing by citizens was doubled - up to 260 thousand rubles.

Internet business has already quite seriously declared itself in public life. Thus, the International Committee to Protect Journalists reported that among convicted journalists this year, for the first time, more of those who wrote online than authors of print publications: 45% versus 42% of the 125 people in prison.

Another “adult” achievement of online journalism is the possibility of receiving a Pulitzer Prize for online publications - starting next year, such materials can be nominated for a prize in any of 14 categories. It is not known whether the members of United Russia who took part in the meeting knew about all this, but they supported the wishes of the Internet community, promising not only to help in the fight against the crisis, but also to represent the interests of Internet users in the party and the State Duma.
