Boeing plans to reduce 4,500 jobs

The second largest manufacturer of aircraft in the world Boeing Co. The abbreviations will be made in April-June in a division of passenger airliners, the main enterprises of which are located in the Seattle area (Washington), while mainly employees who are not directly related to production will be dismissed. Notifications of dismissal will be made in 60 days starting from the end of February.

“It is quite possible that this is only the beginning - not only for Boeing, but also for the industry as a whole,” says Richard Abulafii, an aviation industry analyst from Teal Group.

Last Thursday, the company announced a decrease in passenger aircraft by 15% in 2008 due to weakening demand and eight-legged strike. If not for these factors, Boeing could get ahead of his main competitor Airbus and go out in the first place in the world for the production of aircraft.

Boeing airliners decreased last year more than half, since the airlines have been preparing for a decrease in passenger traffic since the summer.
