Riots continue in Riga

Mass riots take place in the center of Riga, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the representative of the Latvian police. The excitement began on Tuesday evening at the building of Latvia in the center of Riga. Participants in the riots require the dissolution of parliament.

During the protest rally, several stores are defeated. Several police officers were injured. Glass was knocked out in the Seima building.

At about 23.00 on Tuesday, the police managed to block the quarter around the Sejm and clean the domestic square. The police ousted the crowd onto the street of the Valney and to the powder tower, but it has not yet been able to completely stop the riots.

About 10 thousand people participated in the protest rally on the eve of the house in Domskaya Square in Riga. To accelerate the demonstrators, the authorities used tear gas, it is known about several dozen victims, and among them both demonstrators and police officers. 126 detained participants in the rally is reported. 28 people from among the protesters were hospitalized.

The National Bolsheviks took part in clashes with the police, reports Nazbol.ru. It is emphasized that they did it openly using party symbols.

Events in the country are associated with the fact that Latvia is seriously experiencing an economic decline in the EU. The plan of economic stabilization proposed by the authorities was extremely unpopular among the population. The plan provides for reducing the expenses of all state institutions by 15 percent, freezing salaries to state employees and increasing taxes.
