Dmitry Firtash controls 45% of Rosukrenergo

The famous Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Vasilievich Firtash is the owner of the Group DF international holding company. He also controls 45% of the Rosukranergo gas transmission registered in Switzerland (Gazprom belongs to 50% of the shares of this company, another 5% to another Ukrainian Ivan Fursin). Until January 1 of this year, the company delivered all the Central Asian gas to Ukraine, buying it from Gazprom Export, and part of the Russian one to Europe.

It is included in the ten richest citizens of Ukraine.

Dmitry Firtash was born on May 2, 1965 in the village of Bogdanovka (now - the village of Synkiv) of the Zhadeshchitsky district of the Ternopil region of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1984 he graduated from the Donetsk Railway College, in which he studied at the engine operator, after which he served in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the USSR for two years.

In the late 1980s, Firtash began to engage in the trade in food products - first in Chernivtsi, and then in Moscow. During this period, according to some reports, he became one of the creators of Kmil (Kalinovskaya Maria and Love), which produced canned foods and juices. With his first major deal, he called the exchange in 1988-1989 4 thousand tons of Ukrainian milk powder for a batch of Uzbek cotton, which was then sold in Hong Kong. Firtash earned 50 thousand dollars in this transaction.

In 1990, Firtash began working in Moscow, still engaged in food supplies. As a result of the search for new sales markets, Firtash in 1993 concluded the first contract with the government of Turkmenistan, which provides for barter supply of food products to the country in exchange for natural gas. Then Firtash already sold his goods to Ukrainian entrepreneur Igor Bakai, who had a quota for the supply of gas to Ukraine. This deal was the beginning of the "gas career" of Firtash.

In July 2004, the daughter of Gazprombank Arosgas Holding and the daughter of Raiffeisen Investment Centragas Holding (Austrian company Centragas AG) with shares of 50 percent was established and registered in the Swiss CUG CUG, RosUKrenergo. According to some experts, the Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Yuri Boyko took part in the creation of RosUKRENERGO. In 2006, it became known that the beneficiaries of Centragas are Firtash (owned 90 percent of the shares of the company) and his partner Ivan Fursin (10 percent of the shares).

The media's name was repeatedly associated with a famous entrepreneur with an ambiguous reputation Semen Mogilevich, who was arrested last year in Moscow along with one of the owners of the Arbat Prestige shopping network Vladimir Nekrasov. Mogilevich was attributed to unspoken control over the mediation system in the field of gas trade between Russia, Ukraine and European countries.

Firtash himself in an interview with Vedomosti said that there were no connections between him and Mogilevich: “I believed that all the accusations (the gas trader with Mogilevich) remained in the past. Today all the information about the owners and financial condition of Rosukrenergo was absolutely open. This information was repeatedly checked, including by the bodies of other countries, for example, the United States and no connection. Between me and Mogilevich was not discovered, ”the businessman said. Firtash also denied that Mogilevich has a share in the income of Rosukrenergo.
