Raul Castro will visit Moscow

Kubinsk head Raul Castro will visit Moscow. According to RIA Novosti, this was announced on Friday by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Speaking at the ceremony of presenting verification letters to ambassadors, Medvedev expressed the hope that this visit "would give an impulse to bilateral cooperation."

"Tested by time, friendship and trust became a strong foundation for the development of relations between Russia and Cuba. I hope that a serious impetus to our bilateral relations will give the upcoming visit to Russia the chairman of the State Council and the Council of Ministers Raul Castro," Medvedev said.

Earlier, Raul Castro said that he was ready to meet with the elected US President Barack Obama in neutral territory. As a place for a meeting, he offered an American military base in Guantanamo. “We need to meet and start a solution to existing problems,” Castro said.

After coming to power, Castro made several decisions aimed at liberalization in domestic politics. In particular, the Cubans were allowed to have mobile phones, as well as stay in hotels in which foreigners live.
