- dollar and euro from January 17
The cost of a bivalve basket (operating indicator of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, includes 0.55 and 0.45 euros), according to calculations at 10:06, amounted to 37.25 rubles, rising 45 kopecks above the levels of the previous day.
The fall of the ruble to the bivalyut basket occurs for the 5th time since the beginning of the year, during this period the basket has risen in price by 2.5 rubles.
Given the rate of expansion of the corridor, the main part of the ruble depreciation will end in January - early February, the Vedomosti newspaper, the opinion of the chief economist Deutsche Bank Yaroslav Lisovolik. In his opinion, during this time, the ruble will take a lot of another 10% or even more to the basket - if during this time oil prices will sharply decrease or the Central Bank will want to additionally depreciate the ruble in order to create potential for the rebound.
Within a month, the bivalve basket will reach the level of 42.5 rubles, and the dollar - 37 rubles, said the analyst with Renaissance Capital Alexei Moiseev: "The Central Bank will stop phased devaluation, and after that the strengthening will begin." When the speculators see this, they will have no choice but to sell the dollar, says Moiseev.
As you know, supporters of the simultaneous devaluation of the ruble criticize the actions of the Central Bank, claiming that the regulator continues to spend billions of dollars in vain on the support of the national currency. In the first days of trading, according to market participants, the Bank of Russia spent more than $ 10 billion. On January 15, according to analysts, the same is the same.
The faster the Central Bank establishes the equilibrium ruble exchange rate to the main currencies and stops devaluation, the better, the interlocutors of the News Time newspaper believe. “The main thing that the devaluation threatens now is the leakage of capital from all sectors of the economy. Placing in foreign exchange assets abroad is now more profitable than investments in Russia,” says Evgeny Yasin, the supervisor of the Higher School of Economics.
