The Krasnodar Regional Court dismissed cassation appeals in the case of OMON fighters sentenced to imprisonment for beating vacationers in Sochi.

Recall that on the night of July 19, 2006, several dozen officers of the Sochi OMON conducted a sweep of the Druzhba children's camp in the Lazarevsky district of Sochi. The reason was an incident in a beach cafe: two OMON officers in civilian clothes got into a fight with vacationers. The policemen promised to "come back and deal with everyone." The promise was kept. The court found that the police detachment arrived at the disassembly in full combat gear, including pistols, magazines with cartridges, stun guns and batons. They beat everyone who came to hand.

Subsequently, 29 people were recognized as victims in the case. Hematomas and traces from the use of stun guns were recorded among local residents and vacationers. One of the juveniles received a concussion, the other suffered a contusion of internal organs. The riot policemen were charged under Article 286 of the Criminal Code, “Abuse of office”. The Lazarevsky District Court of Sochi sentenced eight riot police on October 15 last year. Since it was left unchanged, the fighter Mikhail Pruidze received 2.5 years in a colony-settlement, Alexei Korolev and Vladimir Zabeyvorota received 3 years in a general regime colony. Three more - Vladimir Zubenko, Alexei Petrenko and Alexander Yezersky - will go to a general regime colony for 3.5 years. For OMON officer Igor Pimenov, this term was 4.5 years, and the court sentenced Maxim Ozhgikhin to five years in a penal colony and a fine of 30,000 rubles. All convicts are also deprived of the right to hold their positions for three years.
