
US President Barack Obama decided to leave his limousine and walk with his wife on foot the last few hundred meters from the Capitol Hill to the White House.
At the end of the inauguration ceremony and a solemn dinner within the walls of Congress, the American leader went to his residence at Pennsylvania Avenue, 1600, opening a traditional colorful parade.
The president’s motorcade, led by his armored Cadillacu limousine, with the USA-1 license plate moved from the Capitol Hill to the White House to the enthusiastic cries of thousands of supporters. They filled the all -the -course of the motorcade to express their support to the president.
In the parade, which takes place in Pennsylvania from Congress to the White House, orchestras, units of all military branches, representatives of state and large cities take part.
The total length of the path that will be overcome by the parade participants is about 2.7 km.
According to the US Secret Service, the number of people lined up along Pennsylvania Avenue can be from 300 to 350 thousand.
Upon returning to the White House, Barak and Michelle Obama ascended a specially erected rostrum, protected by bulletproof windows, from where they greet the colorful inaugural parade. The rostrum is located right behind the Northern Pennsylvania-Avenue Pennsylvania.
Together with the presidential couple, there are also Vice President Joseph Biden and his wife, relatives and friends, former and acting high-ranking officials of the country.
At 7 o’clock in the evening, the president will leave the White House and, together with his wife, will go to the inaugural balls. This year there will be ten of them, and all the presidential couple intends to visit - albeit for a short while - and be sure to cook.
The celebrations will continue until late at night, and the president and his wife will return to the White House only in the early morning of January 21.
