The Petersburg Publishing House of the ABC-Classica, with the support of the German Cultural Center named after Goethe, published the book of Pope Benedict XVI "Jesus from Nazareth" in Russian. Her representation of the public of the Northern capital took place today in the Roman Catholic Church of St. Catherine, reports ITAR-TASS.
In Moscow, the presentation of the book was held on December 2 last year.
In the preface, the Pope writes that he went to this book for a long time, the first part of which is proposed to the attention of the reading public of the entire Christian world. In it, he summarizes a peculiar result of his many years of works, in the center of which the main question is to comprehend the true meaning of Jesus Christ.
“The church is too busy with itself instead of talking about Christ,” the author believes.
He noted that the publication of the book "Jesus of Nazareth" should not be understood as an official directive document, but only as a result of his personal thoughts. She is an invitation to dialogue and discussion on the affected topic
Publishers note that the release of the book caused many different and conflicting responses. But with all the "pros" and "against" there was a general opinion that its author took a courageous step. Never a single pope published scientific works about Jesus.
