The Latvian police came up with how to calculate the participants in the riots and pogroms that occurred in Old Riga on January 13. On Thursday, the police opened a special site on which the inhabitants of the Latvian capital are called upon to identify participants in the riots, whose photographs close -up are posted there. At the same time, the site will be constantly replenished with new photo and video materials, the police noted.

The task of investigators is to establish not all participants in the pogroms, but their initiators, instigators and those who committed specific crimes, explained on Thursday the head of the criminal police of the Riga Regional Police Department of the Inta In the Cuusis. According to him, some participants in the riots have already appeared to the police, among them there are former prisoners and those who have not yet been repaid, Interfax reports.

The punishment for those participants in the riots who voluntarily appeared to the police and showed testimonies may be softened, the Incusis said. According to him, the police have already interrogated 50 people, the number of suspects exceeded 20.

Recall that in the evening of January 13, a society organized by the opposition party "Society for another policy" of a rally with an appeal to the president of Latvia to dissolve the Sejm organized by the opposition party in Riga was held in Riga. The rally itself passed calmly, but after its end, about a thousand demonstrators headed to the parliament building and tried to break through, began to knock out glasses in the windows of the Sejm, and then the police cars became smashed and threw stones, bottles, raw eggs and other items in law enforcement officers.

The police used tear gas, rubber bullets and batons to accelerate the crowd. As a result, 126 people were arrested, about 40 people were in the hospital. The damage was also caused to other buildings and shops in old Riga.
