After the "Hudson miracle", all US airports decided to equip the "bird" radars

All American airports will soon be equipped with radars who can track flocks of birds. Representatives of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAU) of the United States reported on Monday that this measure is necessary to ensure the safety of airplane flights and prevent cases of birds with aircraft, ITAR-TASS reports.

It was decided to accept this measure in all the air harbors of the country after on January 15 in New York, an emergency landing on the Hudson River Airbus A320 of the US Airways passenger aircraft, on board of which there were 155 people. The liner, when taking off, collided with a flock of Canadian geese and damaged both engines. Only thanks to the competent actions of the crew commander Chestye Sallenberger, who put the plane on the water, as a result of the incident, neither passengers nor people on Earth suffered.

The new radar system, which can track birds within a radius of 10 km from the airport, has already been tested and demonstrated good results at the airports of Chicago, Seattle and Dallas, representatives of the FAU noted. According to them, thanks to special radars, airport services will be able to track the movements of flocks of birds and take the necessary actions so that the trajectory of their movement does not intersect with the trajectory of the aircraft.
