The rating of the most popular passwords on the English -language Internet has been compiled

The author of the book Perfect Passwords Mark Berett compiled a list of 500 most common passwords among English -speaking users. The combination of 123456 was in the first place. The modifications of this simple combination (1234 and 12345678) are occupied by the third and fourth place, respectively, the newspaper "News Time" reported this study.

Out -bloodwords and expressions, passwords with a sexual theme (Sexsex -164th place, Porno -219th, Tits -256th, Bigtits -267th), films (Matrix -in 229th place), color (black -104th, blue -blue -blue -are popular. 193rd), the names of countries (Brazil-411th, Japan-413rd, Russia-492th).

According to ProtoCom Development Systems, which specializes in information security, 35.4% of users are forced to remember from one to five passwords, and 38.1% - from six to ten. At the same time, a quarter of users constantly forgets their passwords. Most people, neglecting the advice of experts, tries not to overload the memory and use simple passwords that are difficult to forget.

For example, in the UK, most often as a password, people use their own name, nickname of a pet, the name of their car, the date of birth, the memorable date, the name of the family member and, surprisingly, the word Password.

Specialists of the British Centralnic domain registor company even believe that, depending on which password, a person uses, we can draw quite definite conclusions about himself. A respectable family man chooses the names of relatives or nicknames of pets as a password. Fans and victims of pop culture are the names of their favorite teams, the names of artists, singers, animated characters.

And only about competent users who come up with the right passwords (combinations of lowercase and capital letters, numbers and special symbols) can not be said. Unless they are more effective, far -sighted and conscientious than others.

The 500 most common passwords are a real nonsense in comparison with the databases used by the developers of software products to restore passwords (read - hacking crypto protection systems). For the Russian language, such bases have 75 thousand or more options, and for English - at least 200-300 thousand.

Mark Bernett in his book gives the following recommendation: "If you see your own in the ranking of the most popular passwords, immediately change it. Keep in mind that each of the passwords that I have listed use thousands of people."

In Russia, there have not yet been conducted serious studies of user preferences when choosing a password. But we can assume that our users are not much different from the British and American brothers in mind.
