Tymoshenko intends to solve the problem "Artek" by reducing expenses for the president

The Government of Ukraine will ensure the functioning of the Artek International Children's Center, which is close to bankruptcy, due to the redistribution of expenses for the maintenance of the president and its secretariat. This was stated on January 30, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko. It should be noted that Artek is part of the management of the President of Ukraine and in recent years has not been funded from budget funds.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in the state budget for 2009 to ensure the activities of the president and his secretariat, almost 1 billion UAH is provided. “This figure, close to one billion, which was found in order to support the president normally - to make thousands of tricks, balls, normally support the organizational, information -analytical and material support of the president,” Timoshenko quotes Newsru.ua .

Tymoshenko pointed out expenses that are "stupid, ineffective, which absolutely do not contribute to the country's normal life, and in general they are the squandering of funds." At the same time, the Prime Minister noted, there is no money to support Artek.

From the president and his secretariat of money, Tymoshenko proposed to give 60 million UAH to the children's center. The government also intends to allocate 30 million UAH from the reserve fund for the overhaul of Artek.

In recent years, Artek has existed through the sale of vouchers. However, in 2009, due to the financial crisis in Artek, the winter races of children were first abolished. Since October, the employees of the center have not been paid salaries, the camp general director announced a hunger strike. According to the Accounts Chamber of Ukraine, the total debt of the International Children's Center is 36.5 million hryvnias

It was reported that the situation may end with a raider seizure of the children's center extremely attractive for the development of the territories. Now, according to Tymoshenko, the government will provide special status to the lands that belong to the Artek International Children's Center and prohibit their alienation.
