Professor of the Catholic University met with Orthodox students

In the conference hall of the Orthodox Holy Tikhonovsky Humanitarian University, the day before, a meeting of students and teachers of the PSTGU with a professor at the Theological University of the German city of Munster Thomas Bremer took place. The theme of the meeting - "Catholic theological education in modern Germany" - caused a lively discussion, the portal "Theologian.ru" reports with reference to the press service of the PSTU.

Bremer said that there are no seminaries in Germany, and students who are preparing to become priests study at theological faculties, after which they are ordained in the holy dignity. During the training of the spiritual education of future pastors, a specially appointed priest is engaged in. In addition to university courses, students who want to devote themselves to the service of the Church are studying special disciplines - asceticism, singing and others.

The speaker noted that, unfortunately, there are not enough priests in Germany today. The parishes are most often elderly clergy. At the University of Münster, where Professor Bremer teaches, about 40 students are studying to follow the path of church service.

In the conclusion of the meeting, the representative of the International Department of PSTU Yu.V. Zudov handed the professor the books published by St. Tikhonovsky University, and the guest gave the library of PSTGU his book on the history of the Russian Church.
