The UN scandal: US Ambassador angered Iran with unexpected accusations

The scandal ended with a meeting of the UN Security Council at Iraq. In open debate, the US representative Susan Rice unexpectedly accused Tehran of supporting terrorism and the desire to get nuclear weapons. In response to this, the Iranian diplomat Mohammad Khazai sent an angry letter addressed to the chairman of the Security Council.

Rice said that after the withdrawal of troops from Iraq, the United States would strive to put an end to the Iranian desire to illegally expand their nuclear capabilities, as well as his support for terrorism.

Khazai in response emphasized that Rice uses the same arguments that the previous American administration nominated, and called the American ambassador's statements "unreasonable and absurd," Vesti TV channel reports.

“Instead of making charges against others, the United States should be taken specific and purposeful steps to correct their wrong former foreign policy, including in relation to Iran,” the diplomat noted.

The scandal erupted a day after Iran, together with Russia, began testing the Bushera NPP , and the representative of the US State Department Robert Wood said that this was not contrary to the principle of a peaceful atom, the Iranian English -language site Press TV notes.

Recall that earlier US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed their readiness to start a direct dialogue with Iran to solve his nuclear problem and establish bilateral relations. There have been no diplomatic connections between them since 1979, when the Islamic Revolution won in Iran. The former American administration excluded the possibility of direct negotiations with this country.

Meanwhile, the same Press TV website reports that the predecessor of Susan Rice as US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton announced the defeat of Washington in preventing the Iranian nuclear program. He admitted that Tehran completely mastered nuclear technologies.

According to Bolton, only a change in the ruling regime in Iran could solve the problem, but this no longer represents a real practical opportunity.
