Central Bank reduced euro and dollar courses

The Central Bank of Russia lowered the official dollar exchange rate by 33 kopecks to the mark of 35.89 rubles per dollar, according to the Central Bank website. The cost of a single European currency decreased by 9 kopecks to the level of 45.26 rubles per euro. The price of a bivalve basket, designed at official courses, amounted to 40.11 rubles. Compared to the previous day, the basket fell into 23 kopecks.

By 14.00 Moscow time, the dollar exchange rate with “Tomorrow” settlements on the MICEX exchange was at 35.92 rubles, and the euro exchange rate was 45.23 rubles. The cost of a bivalve basket, designed for exchange courses, also amounted to 40.11 rubles.

The ruble exchange rate in relation to the dollar and the euro has almost constantly declined since the fall of 2008. At the end of January 2009, the Central Bank of Russia established the upper border of the bivalve basket corridor at the level of 41 rubles, after which the national currency rate stabilized. When the cost of the basket is approaching this mark, the Central Bank begins to maintain the ruble exchange rate by selling currency.
