Russia refused China to supply 50 Su-33 fighters. According to Echo of Moscow, the deal fell due to fears that Beijing would violate the copyright. Initially, the Chinese side wanted to buy two fighters. Russian representatives considered that buyers can copy the technology and begin to produce their own aircraft.
According to ITAR-TASS, an expert on defense and security problems in East Asia, the editor-in-chief of Canvas Diphens Revoy, Andrei Chan, is actively working on the creation of an analogue of the Su-33, using the T10K of the Soviet era, bought 4 years ago from Ukraine as a sample.
Su-33 ship fighters are necessary for China to equip future aircraft carriers. However, negotiations with Russia on the supply of such aircraft, according to the expert, came to a standstill due to disagreements about the minimum size of the party. Chan explained that the Chinese side achieved the purchase of two Su-33 initially to evaluate their flight and technical characteristics. Russia rejected this option, fearing technology leaks, as it was already with the J-11B aircraft-a copy of the Su-27. Then the Chinese side increased its offer to 14 fighters, but Russia considered such an order to launch such an order into the production line.
In February last year, it was reported that in China they collected a copy of the Russian Su-27 fighter. Since 1992, Russia has delivered 76 Su-27SK to China, and in 1995 sold another 200 aircraft. Since 1996, called J-11, they were built in Shennyan using Russian components. By 2003, Russia put 95 sets for J-11, another 105 China has not signed a contract. The share of Chinese components in the J-11 increased, but the engines Al-31F and Avionics were imported from Russia.
In 2003, the US Security Center expert Richard Fisher predicted that the Chinese J-11 will be created in 10 years, but the Chinese coped faster. "The breakthrough in the technology of engines manufactured by the share of Chinese details and technologies from 70-75 percent to more than 90 percent," said Andrei Plotnikov, authorized representative of Rosoboronexport.
