The new Oryol Governor Alexander Kozlov explained the reasons for the introduction of the candidate of his predecessor Yegor Stroyev to the regional council to give the powers of the senator.

At the same time, despite the sharp assessment of the actions of the former governor, Alexander Kozlov emphasized that Yegor Stroeva “respected and respects”: “I don’t want to praise him or whisk him, only I will be responsible for his delegation to the upper house.” The governor added that, according to him, law enforcement agencies do not have documentary evidence that Mr. Straev himself participated in the embezzlement of state property.

Political scientist Vladimir Slavinov appreciated the statements of Alexander Kozlov as a "public ultimatum." “Almost all the serious business in the Oryol region is somehow controlled by the environment of the former governor. The new head of the region was faced with the complete uncontrollability of the region, which can only be curbed in a deal with Yegor Kostyev. Alexander Kozlov is ready to guarantee the predecessor a calm future in exchange for a return to the state property of most of the assets,” the expert told reporters.

At the same time, according to the newspaper, the new Oryol governor still does not have a guarantee of the approval of the initiative to delegate Yegor Stroev in the Federation Council. Categorical opponents of the endowment of his powers of the senator are the Communists (ten deputies of the regional council) and separate united Russia.

From Wednesday to the square to the regional administration, the regional regional committee of the Communist Party organized a picket with the slogans "The Council of the Federation - a warm place ... The drill there is a family chair" and "Senator Strayev - the people will not suit!" About 30 people participated in the manifestation. The Communists promise to hold rallies every day until a meeting of the regional council on March 14.

Recall that Yegor Straev has held his post since 1993. On February 16, the long-lived governor resigned ahead of schedule with the wording of his own free will. Shortly before this, Straev was urgently awarded the title of honorary citizen of the region, which was perceived in some circles as another confirmation of his ambulance, however, as reported, he learned about his shift from the media and immediately left for Moscow.

Experts called the resignation of Stroyev logical: in the region there were poor electoral results of United Russia, a high level of unemployment, a poor economic situation as a whole.

At the same time, it was reported that Stroyev was on the “black list” of governors due to retirement age: on February 25, the Oryol chapter was 72 years old.

Egor Straev first headed the Oryol region under Gorbachev - as the secretary of the regional committee of the CPSU. Returning to the post of regional head under Yeltsin, he, as the head of the upper house of parliament, was one of the most influential politicians in Russia.

The place of the senator from the Oryol region became vacant on February 20, after the Federation Council terminated the authority of the representative of the administration of the Oryol region Marina Rogacheva. She submitted an application for early termination of powers herself in connection with the dismissal of her father, the governor of the region Yegor Stroev.
