The coaching staff of the Russian national team announced the list of players who were called to the training camp before two matches of the 2010 World Cup qualifying round with the teams of Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein.

IBU sponsors are not satisfied with Tikhonov’s candidacy

The German company Ruhrgas, which is one of the largest sponsors of the International Biathlon Union, may terminate the agreement with the IBU if the vice-president of the Russian Biathlon Union, multiple Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov becomes the head of the organization.

“The recent doping scandal with three Russian shooting skiers is also Tikhonov’s fault,” says Ruhrgas top manager Jakob Lund, who spoke about the company’s position in an interview with the NRK television channel. -- Norwegian Anders Besseberg's term at the IBU is coming to an end, and another leader will be elected next year. If it becomes Tikhonov, then our company will most likely refuse sponsorship. Tikhonov has repeatedly spoken about the innocence of Russian biathletes in the doping case and their non-involvement in the use of prohibited substances. This position is unacceptable for us.
