The first conference of university temples will be held in Moscow

The first conference "House temples at universities (universities) of Russia" will be held today in the Church of the Holy Martyr Tatiana at Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. This was announced by RIA Novosti by the rector of the Church, professor of the Moscow Theological Academy Archpriest Maxim Kozlov.

The conference is organized with the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill together with Moscow State University as part of the Intellectual Forum "University of the XXI century. Education, science, innovation".

The conference will come to the conference and delegates of churches at higher educational institutions of Russia - only more than 60 people, as well as representatives of the scientific community, Moscow State University, MGIMO. They will discuss the current state of university temples and the prospects for cooperation.

“The conference’s task is to understand how many of us are and in what situation we are,” said Maxim Kozlov.

According to him, from the initial stage related to the implementation of the idea of ​​house churches at state educational institutions, it is time to proceed to the coordination of their activities and active Orthodox evidence in universities.

This goal should be the association "Orthodox house temples at educational institutions." It was created on the basis of the university Tatiana temple three years ago, but still has not managed to put its activities on a regular basis.

At the conference, it is planned to approve the existing position of the Association of House Temples and elect it by the chairman.

Participants in the discussion will also discuss the problem of the legal status of an Orthodox church at a university, forms and methods of missionaryness in the student environment.

Currently, with Russian universities, there are more than 70 existing temples. The first university house in post -perestroika Russia was the Tatiana Temple at Moscow State University, which opened in 1995 with the active participation of the rector of Moscow University Viktor Sadovnichy.

Five years ago - in 2004 - the late Patriarch Alexy II performed the rank of great consecration of the temple.
