In Prague, the EU summit ended today. The American President Barack Obama and the leaders of 27 member states of the European Union took part in his work. “The meeting symbolized a new level of European-American relations,” the Prime Minister, the presiding in the European Union of the Czech Republic, Mirek Toporak, told reporters, ITAR-TASS reports.
At a joint chairman of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroz's conference, the Czech prime minister emphasized that the Summit "discovered new prospects for US cooperation in the field of energy and combating ongoing climate changes."
“Europe and the United States have a single approach to security problems,” Toporak emphasized. “Our joint fears were confirmed, such as the continuation of Tehran’s development of its nuclear program and today's launch of the DPRK of the Dalnut Radius of Action.”
The Mirek of Toporandi emphasized that the United States did not abandon plans to create a global missile defense system on the Czech territory of the radar station. These plans are adjusted depending on the actions of Iran and such states as the DPRK. “The main thing is to exclude the danger of nuclear war,” the prime minister said.
Toporak said that during the current week of summites and meetings with the participation of Barack Obama, other world leaders and leaders of the EU member states, general approaches to solving problems arising with the global financial economic crisis were developed.
A serious achievement, according to him, is the development of the West of a single approach to the prospects for the development of relations with Russia. These partnerships should be open and honest, built on mutual respect and observance of mutual interests.
Toporaneks as a politician who is now presiding in the EU, answering questions from journalists emphasized that he could not yet talk about the possibility of placing prisoners in prison at the American base of Guantanamo in the European Union. This issue is resolved. The Czech Republic "restrained" to the opportunity to adopt this category of citizens.
In turn, Jose Manuel Barroso identified the economic aspects of the results of the Prague summit and other recent meetings in Europe with the participation of Barack Obama. He emphasized that almost 60 percent of world industrial products are produced in the EU and the United States. Daily domestic trade is $ 2 billion.
The EU and the United States should ensure an effective struggle with increasing climatic changes, this should be facilitated by the summit in Copenhagen, which is supposed to solve specific environmental protection issues.
The head of the EC pointed out the need to diversify energy supply in the world. “There is practically no this diversification in Europe,” said Barroso.
