Taxi prices in Moscow have fallen: there are no customers, cab drivers are complaining

A number of Moscow taxi companies have reduced prices for their services. Now the minimum cost of a taxi trip in the capital varies from 240 to 450 rubles for a 20-40 minute journey. To get to any Moscow airport, you will have to fork out an amount of 800 to 1,500 rubles, depending on the company and the district where the client lives, RIA Novosti reports.

Most likely, the companies decided to reduce tariffs because of the crisis. In such difficult times, fewer and fewer Muscovites are willing to spend money on paying taxi drivers. Now people increasingly prefer traveling by public transport. “There are no clients,” one Moscow taxi driver complained.

“Literally a few days ago, our tariffs changed, for example, the minimum cost of a trip now costs 260 rubles, before that it was 350. The tariff is 9 rubles per minute,” said an employee of the CITY TAXI “Capital Cab Driver” company.

Several companies offer the minimum cost of a trip - 240 rubles for 20 minutes during the daytime. Previously, it ranged from 350-500 rubles.

To attract more customers, some taxi companies run promotions. For example, those who use their services regularly are offered a discount - every ninth trip is free.

Meanwhile, there are companies that have not reduced prices and do not intend to reduce them.

As NEWSmsk.com reported, since the beginning of the year, Muscovites have become 20-30% less likely to call a licensed taxi. Most drivers sit for hours without orders. The management even sets up slot machines for them so that they don’t get bored.

Taking advantage of the decline in the popularity of taxis, “bombs” have become more active, ready to give people rides as part-time work. Moreover, even quite decent foreign cars slow down. Moreover, private owners do not have to pay for car rental, taxes and a percentage to the authorities on each call.
